Anjellicle Cat Rescue
Anjellicle Cats Rescue (ACR) is an all-volunteer registered 501c3 cat rescue committed to helping make New York a no-kill city. As one of the most active cat rescues in the 5 boroughs, ACR is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting out homeless and abandoned cats, with a focus on shelter and community animals. Many of these felines are sick, injured or dismissed as unadoptable. Through a coalition of volunteers and caregivers, each rescued cat is welcomed with kindness and medical care into a foster home to prepare it for adoption into a permanent, loving home. Anjellicle Cats Rescue believes that no animal should be ill-treated and strives toward a day when awareness, education and compassion have replaced euthanasia as a solution to companion animal overpopulation.
With the H/3 grant, Anjellicle Cat Rescue has additional resources to rescue cats with special needs, medical needs or who have been in city shelters for an extended period of time. One such success story is Clive who was surrendered by his owner to a vet clinic on New Year's Eve. He had a recent history of urinary blockages and was blocked again. This clinic could not provide the emergency care he needed and warned that the cat would be euthanized if not placed with a rescue before closing. With urinary blockages of this severity,Clive needed at least 48 hours at an emergency-level care facility, possibly a specialty P/U surgery, and supportive care in a foster home. Clive spent 3 days at an emergency vet and was then placed with an experienced foster. Throughout his ordeal he has been easy and affectionate, never becoming agitated with his foster when syringe fed or given subQ fluids. Thankfully, despite a rough first week, he is doing very well with his foster. He should not need the P/U surgery if he gets the proper diet and the echocardiogram confirmed the heart murmur is benign. And the best news - Clive is in the process of being adopted! Anjellicle was able to address all of the adopter's medical questions and concerns because Clive received such thorough care from the beginning thanks to the grant from H/3.
