Humane Education
In 2015, Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International partnered with the Government of Puerto Rico to launch "Humane Puerto Rico". This program's goal was to confront the country's persistent problems regarding animals, along with redefining relationships with them. This was achieved through specialized training for law enforcement officials, animal control agents, social worker, and teachers. H/3 founder Spencer Haber was able to further these efforts by funding the section of the program that supports teachers looking to incorporate humane education into their curricula. This approach looks to children as the solution for animal related problems, as it teaches them about empathy, ethics, and their moral duty towards animal and people.
